Ronnie Blackman

Blackman started his career off playing for Reading in 1946, making his first appearance in a match against Bristol City. He was a prolific goal scorer at the club and he was an integral part of the Reading team that finished second in the Southern league three. His finest match was their encounter against Southend on 14th April 1952 as he scored five goals in that match. After seven years playing for Reading, Blackman left the club to join Nottingham Forest, he was once again prolific in front of goal, scoring a club record of 158 league goals.

 

Alan Foster

Foster was one of Reading’s greatest ever players, a pre World war one player. He is famously remembered for scoring a hat trick against AC Milan in their 5-0 victory over the Italian club. Foster fought during the first World War, however he was sadly killed during the war.

 

Matt Busby

Busby started his career off playing for Manchester City in 1929, a club he went on to spend seven seasons at. He won the FA Cup with the club in 1934 and in the year 1936 he moved on to play for Liverpool. He spent four seasons playing for the Reds, making an impressive 118 league appearances for the club. Between the years 1942 and 1945, Busby played for Reading football club, making 40 appearances for the club during his tenure at Reading.
