The Source for Everything Soccer

Bob Lenarduzzi

Lenarduzzi commenced his playing career at Reading FC in 1971 and went on to make 67 first team appearances for the club. He soon moved on to join the North American soccer league in 1974, playing for the Vancouver Whitecaps. He spent eleven seasons with the club and to this date is the proud record holder of most appearances ever made in the league, a staggering 312 matches played. He was a great utility player, who could play in all positions of the field. His brilliant performances earned him 47 caps for the Canadian national football team.

Steve Death

In the year 1969, Steve Death joined Reading FC and is now regarded as one of the greatest ever legends to have played for the club. He became first choice goal keeper at his arrival at the club and soon earned a reputation as one of the best goal keepers in the country. He was a fans favourite, winning the ‘player of the season’ award on four separate years and helped the club to promotion from the forth division during the 1978-79 campaign. Death made a total of 537 first team appearances for the club and to this day he holds the proud record of the most consecutive minutes without conceding a goal in the entire history of the English football league, an incredible 1,103 minutes. Certainly one of the greatest characters English football has ever produced.
