Martin Hicks

Hicks is arguably one of the greatest ever defenders to have played for Reading FC. He joined the club in February 1978 and went on to spend 13 years at the club. He helped the club win the Forth division championship in 1986 and then enjoyed a fine victory in the Simod Cup final with the club, as they defeated Luton Town in the final at Wembley in March 1988. After 13 years at the club, he moved on to play for Birmingham City before ending his career starring for Newbury Town and then Worchester city. Hicks holds the record as Readings most played ever player, appearing 603 times for the club.
